Team Full Tilt

As mentioned above Full Tilt is supported by numerous professional poker players. Professionals players who are on “Team Full Tilt", include players such as Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson, John Juanda, Jennifer Harman, Phil Gordon, Erick Lindgren, Erik Seidel, Clonie Gowen, Andy Bloch, Mike Matusow, Gus Hansen, and Allen Cunningham. These professionals promote Full Tilt and play exclusively on the site. Any time one of the professional poker players is playing at a table, it shows up in red in the lobby. Everyone should take a peek at a pro playing at least once. Full Tilt is the only online poker room where you have the chance to play with poker pros. Full Tilt also schedules regular live chats with the pros so you can ask them questions about the ins and outs of the game.

Software

Full Tilt software is among the top in online poker with great functionality, good stability, amazing graphics, and stellar customizations. Full Tilt Poker operates its own privately developed software (and is still managed by the original creators, including Chris "Jesus" Ferguson) on the Full Tilt Poker network. As Fulll Tilt is the only skin on the network, it has its own player base.

The lobby is simple to navigate and very user friendly. Stats are available both in the lobby and at the tables; you can view the view flop percentages, the number of hands dealt per hour, and your own game details. You can also take notes on your opponents and add them to your friend/foe finder for future reference. You have a choice of several cartoon style characters for your avatar. You also have the option to turn avatars off. You can set the “mood” of your avatar (happy, sad, angry, confused) to reflect how you feel so that other players can see your mood.

One of the best features of the Full Tilt software is the table customization features. For example, with the Full Tilt Poker Software you have the ability to resize tables. You can click and drag the table window to any size you want. You can also tile or cascade the table windows, which is great for multi-tabling. You can save the current view of the tables that you have set up so when you log in next time, the tables will automatically arrange in that order (up to five different layouts). The software also features several table view options: the classic round table style or the racetrack view (more of an oval poker table), both with or without avatars. And don't forget multi-tabling! Multi-tabling at Full Tilt is available for up to eight games at once. However, eight is the default. Full Tilt actually allows players to play up to 16 tables at once, but you have to email them and request it. Once you do, they will modify your account so you can play up to 16 tables at once.

Full Tilt Poker Lobby

One specific feature of the software worth mentioning is the “time bank.” Time banks give you more time during a game, “so you can give your toughest decisions the time they deserve.”

Full Tilt really listens to what the players want and need to make game play a great experience and as such, they are constantly updating and improving their software. For example, Full Tilt Poker has a MAC version of their software which a lot of sites do not have. Full Tilt Poker has also made their software available in several different langauges including, English, German, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese (Brazilian).

Overall, the Full Tilt Poker software is sophisticated, fast, and consistent and makes playing at Full Tilt a pleasure.

Traffic

Full Tilt Poker is one of the biggest online poker sites today. As of April 2008 Full Tilt Poker has over 10,000 real-money ring game players at peak hours and over 65,000 real-money tournament players at peak hours. Traffic at Full Tilt continues to grow as they attract more and more players with their massive advertising campaigns and excellent bonuses for new players. Full Tilt's heavy traffic makes it easy to find a game no matter the time of day. Of course as Texas Hold'em is the most popular game there are always several games running no matter what. Omaha too is popular, with several tables always running. The Sit n Go's at all levels also receive a lot of traffic, including high stakes tables which start regularly around the clock. About 20% of all players at Full Tilt play high stakes poker ($100/$200 and higher), 50% prefer the average stakes ($10/$20 to $50/$100), and 30% are playing the lowest stakes. Despite the closings of some online poker rooms to U.S. players, Full Tilt has made it clear that US players are welcome at Full Tilt! Many U.S players have made Full Tilt their home and they now make up a large percentage of Full Tilt's player base.

Competition

The competition at Full Tilt is known as being tough, especially at the higher states. However, as Full Tilt continues to grow competition has softened up. Play at the lower levels is not nearly as tight as it was and competition is currently about average. The micro to lower limit tables can offer softer completion with some fishing. Overall, Full Tilt attracts those professional players who are considered to be the best in online poker, but also attracts plenty of novices.

Game Limits & Variety

Full Tilt Poker offers an excellent variety of games and stakes--probably the best of any online poker site out there! The stakes for the games at Full Tilt Poker are:

  • No Limit Ring Stakes: $.05/.10 up to $500/1000
  • Limit Ring Stakes: $.25/$.50 up to $1000/$2000
  • Sit & Go Stakes: $1/$.25 up to $2200/$90

Full Tilt supports three types of formats for their cash games: heads-up (2 player max), shorthanded (6 player max), or full table (10 player max). Tournaments are available in both multi-table and sit-n-go formats. Feel the need for speed? Full Tilt also offers tournaments in turbo format. In Turbo Sit and Go’s the blinds increase every three minutes. In Turbo Multi-Table tournaments the blind increases every five minutes.

*H.O.R.S.E., H.O.S.E, and H.A. are fixed limit mixed games. Each letter of the acronym stands for a different game; the games are played in the order of the acronym. With mixed games, during play the game changes automatically every ten hands.

  • HORSE is a combination of these games: Texas Holdem, Omaha, Razz, Seven Card Stud, Seven Card Stud Eight or Better (also known as Seven Card Stud High / Low).
  • HOSE is a combination of: Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Seven Card Stud, and Seven Card Stud Eight or Better (also known as Seven Card Stud High / Low).
  • HA is a combination of: Texas Hold’em and OmAha.

These mixed game variations are rarely available at other poker sites, so players wanting to compete at mixed games have an excellent opportunity to do so at Full Tilt Poker. Other poker sites may have a few of these cash mixed games, but the difference is that no one actually plays them there, while at Full Tilt Poker they do. Currently, mixed games are only offered in tournament and Sit-n-Go formats. The reason some people like mixed games such as these is that professional or specialist poker players do not have an advantage which allegedly reveals those players with "true" skill and ability.
